Listing the research topics
The topics chosen were mostly about trains, airliners, or engineering. The most concerning part of this process was on the decision making of which topic to research on.
5/8/12
Choosing one topic
Continuing from the last concerning process, the topic that was chosen through 14 hours (including while sleeping) of contemplation was the History of Japan Airlines. The most greatest reason this became the research topic is because this company has just faced a devastating state of bankruptcy and I believed that needed to be more focused on.
5/10/12
Researching on the Bankruptcy era
Thoughts on this year of terrible financial state has proven to be very interesting.
5/16/12
FQI Sheets
My thoughts on this was that there were a lot of resources ranging from crash reports to the company's own web page. Although this is a great and fun topic for me, it may show that the resources might be limited and the research may be very difficult as compared to other subjects.
5/18/12
Researching the reviews of the people
Looking at the reviews of the people, I have noticed a trendin the reviews and show a bad reviewis fairly less frequent compared to the goodreviews. Even though I might have said thatthis topic may be conflicting with the research,it looks like after the FQI sheets, this might beeasier due to the interest in this subject.
5/22/12
Narrative Rough Draft
Writing the rough draft for the narrative is actually easier when typing in Japanese due to the easier flow of the storyline and the ideas and the character traits. The complications found in this process is definitely the translation error and the lack of story when typing this. I might have to edit this a lot when I finish this thing.....
5/28/12
Pondering of Genres
This process was one of the hardest in the project because of the infinite possibilities the genres can pose to create my wiki. I have decided to make multiple and edit them to the wiki to make it look nice on June 7th. I might work on a comic, poster, commercial, poem, song, list, ATC transmission, and so on. I would most likely not work on all of them though.....
5/30/12
Logo and Comic work
I have started working on the logo using the main character and started on the comic of this character's work day. I have planned that this may be connected to the list I am working on and is a sequel part to the narrative. Please do not criticize why I had this idea in the first place though.....
6/1/12
Going through additional sources of JAL 123
A video I found on YouTube of JAL 123's crash has inspired me to do something different and to do maybe a poster on the single largest airliner crash in history to honor those who had prepared as they burst on to the mountains of Gunma. I may make a poster or change the song plan from doing a history overview song to a crash memorial. I also may have given up on the comic idea because putting the pen in is too difficult for my tastes and I have terrible ways of placing straight lines in. So now, the genres would be poem, narrative, poster, timeline, and song. I may add the comic if I wanted to in the end........
6/5/12
Poster, Song Lyrics
Adding translation to songs is pretty hard considering that I have to convert the song beats with English as well. I still thin it was easier than the comic though. The only complication is the creating process of the poster due to it's need of pizzazz or "flashyness". The timeline could be done and so can the Comparison chart within an hour with some revision.

For this last reflection, you should choose fourof the nine questions listed here:
Why did you choose your topic? Are you still happy with your choice?
I chose my topic of Japan Airlines because I was inspired by the JA828J landing at Boston on April 22nd. Also, I have swaying favoritism between planes and trains and I happened to be in the plane mood at that time. Another factor that might be influencing me is the fact that I am going overseas this summer. That usually means I have to take a plane, which prepares me for taking pictures and research on the flights. (This year, I am taking a CRJ to Toronto and a 777-200LR to Tokyo)
What facts about your topic interested you most? Did this kind of project help you get a better understanding of your topic than you might have with a more traditional kind of research paper? If so, why and in what ways did it help?
The most interesting fact that I found was the status this airline had before the merger between JAS and JAL. Without the push I had from the project, I would have probably never tried to research this in the first place. I also believe that the MGRP had a better inspiration because this type had a more creative aspect rather than the traditional research paper.
How much information did you collect? How easy or hard was it to find information?
I had collected lots of information of wide range from the designers of logos to the crash reports and influences of JAL 123. Some facts were hard such as the crash report where I had to search using advance searches, while the facts I got from the official company's site was a lot easier because I knew that it existed before.
What strengths did you use as a writer in this project? What new strengths did you discover?
My strength as a writer that I used was the flow of ideas that I can use when I think in Japanese. Because this topic had some relation to Japanese, it was relevant to use that technique to make ideas flow better. The hard part was the translation and the cultural differences I had to do. A new strength wasn't really found though.
How did you decide on the organization of the pieces into a cohesive whole? Consider not only organization but use of transitional devices and packaging.
I considered the organization of the entire piece by chronological order, and tried to use the event's cause and effect to relate to the next piece. Although that was hard trying to make transitions, I believe it is hard to convey the message itself when my topic is about something only you like......
